ABBI ACHTERBERG
Vice President of Development and Communications
Abbi is originally from Lebanon, Indiana and attended DePauw University. After her undergraduate work she pursued a career in marketing, eventually earning her Master’s in Business Administration, with a concentration in Leadership, from Butler University in 2011.
Soon after earning her MBA she began work in the non-profit industry, gaining employment with The Villages of Indiana, one of the state’s largest child welfare agencies, where she oversaw marketing, communications, and community engagement activities. While at The Villages she earned her Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) from the Lilly School of Philanthropy, allowing her to advance her career in fundraising.
In June of 2025, Abbi joined the team at Teenworks as the Vice President of Development and Communications and is passionate about providing employment opportunities for teens.
Outside of her work, she is highly involved in the community and currently volunteers for the Civic Guild at Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre, as well as serves as the Finance Chair for the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She was also honored to participate on the OPTIONS cohort in 2024 with The Women’s Fund of Central Indiana. She also formerly served on the board of the Carmel Education Foundation.
Abbi lives with her husband, Ryan, three kids, and two labrador retrievers.
